Leslie Jones has best reaction to Chris Mazdzer’s historic silver medal in luge

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — Chris Mazdzer is waking up to find he’s got a whole country’s worth of new fans.

OK, waking up might be a stretch, given that he hasn’t slept since becoming the first American man to win a medal in men’s luge, a silver. But the new fans part is definitely right — led by Saturday Night Live comedian Leslie Jones.

Jones’ love for the Olympics is well documented — she was one of the breakout stars of the Rio Games without doing a race or turning a cartwheel — and, based on her Twitter feed, she discovered luge just in time to see Mazdzer’s historic run Sunday night.

More:USA’s silver medalist Chris Mazdzer dreamed about it and (sort of) called his shot.

“OK, Chris. Yes, baby. Create history, Chris. On that little skateboard with — Lord have mercy Jesus! That’s got to be the most dangerous thing in the world!” Jones yelled in the video she posted.

“Go Chriiiiis! Please God don’t let him hit a pebble or something `cuz it’s going to be curtains for him. Look at this.”.

(WARNING: Video contains some strong language).

Mazdzer did not hit a pebble. Or, worse, a wall like Germany’s Felix Loch, whose mistake cost him a third consecutive Olympic gold. Loch was the final competitor, and his mistake sealed the silver medal for Mazdzer.

The American is, understandably, a bit overwhelmed at his accomplishment and the attention it’s brought. But he’s enjoying every minute of it.

“I did,” Mazdzer said when asked if he’d heard about Jones’ newfound fandom. “That was pretty awesome.”.
